Addictions

Strawberries are in season again. I'm working on a $7.00/day habit. Yum!

Today I started some "volunteer" work with a fellow who used to be my boss. He's just a few years older than I am, and he used to be one of those tall, blonde, good looking guys who seemed to get ahead in life based on his smile. He came down with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) several years ago and is now in a wheelchair. I contacted him through his ALS website/blog a few months back and have been in contact with his sister. Finally, he asked if I would help him manage his email, as he is no longer able to type. So I went over today and helped him answer his mail. He has aged more than normal, but he is still the same guy. I'll help him for a while until.... I don't know. I guess I'll help him until he doesn't need me anymore or until he's dead??? Gosh.

Life with me remains great. Rover and I are wonderfully happy. Life continues to come together. I am blessed.

That's about it. Just wanted to check in.

WOW, you are busy!! It's good for the soul though to help someone, isn't it. Such a horrible disease-like my brother's cancer it just robs one of so much...independance, freedom, etc. I think that is the worst. Pain can be taken care of, but losing the essence of who one is now that is sometimes just too hard to bear. And I know it is hard for such vital, alive, independant people to become dependant on someone else for the most simple of daily tasks. I have said a prayer for your friend. Bless you for taking on this task. Not something that girl I "met" so long ago would have been capable of doing. You have come a very long way & you are doing good works. I am very proud of you & very very happy for the wonderful life you are now living. Keep it up, girl, you have come so very very far. It is just way cool to have witnessed your growth. Thank you for letting me, in a small way, be part of your life. You are a blessing to me.

Blessed be...
